Enjoying meeting and making new friends at the Hawaiian Cultural Heritage Festival at the Pittsfield Farmers Market. Kula Manu haumāna led free activities like lei making, kapa printing, pua hulu, photo booth, and ʻahu ʻula design. It was a great day building pilina between Hawaiʻi and Pittsfield!

In a beautiful ʻawa ceremony, haumāna from Kula Manu presented a replica ʻahu ʻula to the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Museum leadership partnered with haumāna to repatriate the original ʻahu ʻula to the Kauaʻi museum. The detailed replica is made from over 9,000 feathers and took two years to complete. In addition to presenting other makana between organizations, a city proclamation was shared and Kula Manu will participate in a Hawaiian festival sharing feather artistry, Hawaiian culture, and aloha.

This year has carried a deeper meaning for us all. Through challenge and uncertainty, our Kapālama ʻohana gathered with purpose, strength, and aloha to honor our beloved Ke Aliʻi Bernice Pauahi Pākī Bishop. In moments that asked much of us, we were reminded of who we are, and what binds us together…the chiefly kauoha of our Princess. I mua Class of 2026!
