Not noted in the course catalog is our new Edgenuity courses for haumāna in grades 9-12. Edgenuity combines rigorous content with direct-instruction videos from expert, on-screen teachers with interactive learning tools and resources to engage and motivate students. The online courses for credit recovery are based on the rigor and high expectations of state, Common Core, and NGSS standards.

Since 2017, Hālau ʻO Kapikohānaiāmālama has been serving our Hawaiian community across Maui. It is our goal to provide a safe and nurturing Hawaiian learning space for our haumāna, from kamaiki to ʻōpio.

We strive to provide experiences that will shape these ʻōiwi into leaders for our future. Hālau ʻo Kapikohānaiāmālama emphasizes experiences that develop a student’s aloha for their ʻāina through interdisciplinary courses that are based in kuanaʻike Hawaiʻi – traditional Hawaiian knowledge through moʻolelo - stories, mele – song, chants and ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi – Hawaiian language.

This four-week summer learning program is open to students entering grades K-12, including Kamehameha Schools students, students attending State of Hawaiʻi DOE, public charter schools and other private institutions. We offer early college courses, and specialty courses like Hoʻokele Waʻa and Hawaiian Ethnobotany.
