Hauʻoli Makahiki Hou! From mālama ʻāina in Kuʻia, Lahaina, to ʻAha Makahiki celebrations on our campuses, the past year reflected enduring connections between culture, community, and education at Ke Kula ʻo Kamehameha. Haumāna, kumu, donors, and partners alike advanced pathways for learning, stewardship, and ʻike Hawaiʻi. As 2026 begins, we carry these moments of purpose and shared kuleana into the year ahead. In her final kauoha, Ke Aliʻi Pauahi expressed her chiefly vision clearly: the restoration and future strength of her people and her nation through education. She did not act as a benefactress offering services in exchange for payment. She acted as an aliʻi, exercising kuleana to create the conditions necessary for the well-being, continuity, and capacity of her people. This message from our Board of Trustees and CEO is part of a broader, intentional effort to clarify Ke Aliʻi Pauahi’s enduring relationships with her haumāna, her lāhui, and her ʻāina and to bring Ke Kula ‘o Kamehameha’s practices into closer alignment with the truth of her aloha for her people. 📖 Today, in celebration of Founder's Day, we’re turning the pages back to the 1920s. This Founder’s Day book, found in the KS Archives, began production in 1925 and first published in 1928. Many of the mele and passages printed in its pages are still part of our Founder’s Day today, a living tradition honoring Ke Aliʻi Pauahi carried forward for more than a century. #FoundersDay #MahaloPauahi #KamehamehaSchools
